Stairs

Winning athletic teams also had their place of honor on the second floor, at the head of the central stairway.  According to Tigrtrax:

After the game and after the cheers,
After the joys and after the tears,
A newly-won trophy will proudly stand
In its glass home, as has been planned.

The Boosters, the Class of ’63
Have proudly presented for all to see
A trophy case to catch the eye
And grace the halls of Richwood High.

 

Speaking of those halls, their floors were made of long-wearing terrazzo ...
