Here's a heptagonal (seven-sided) stage with two entrance doors, marked Y and X.  The seating areas can be used in different ways depending on the needs of the production.

1.  If only the yellow seats are used, all the audience is on one side of the stage and in full view of both doors, rather like a traditional proscenium arrangement.  Scenery could be erected behind the stage.

2.  If the green, yellow, and red seats are used, we have more of a thrust stage.  Door Y is partially obstructed from the view of people in the green seats, as they can't see an actor standing within the doorway.  Likewise for Door X and the red seats.

3. If the yellow and purple seats are used, the audience is on both sides of the stage, arena-style.  Everyone can see both doors X and Y.

4.  If all the colored seats are used, with most entrances taking place at door X, we have an asymmetric thrust stage.

5.  And filling all the seats (including a sixth section in the lower right that I didn't draw) gives us a theatre in the round.
