John
W. Cheney (1928-1996) was my fathers insurance agent in
Richwood, Ohio, with an office on the second floor of the Richwood
Banking Company building. In 1964, he had to handle a major
claim when our auto dealership was destroyed by fire.
A
year and a half later, John went west, moving first to California
(if I recall correctly) and eventually relocating to Illinois.
His
last day in the Richwood office was Friday, January 28, 1966.
It was clear but bitterly cold in central Ohio, with a low of -2°
and a high of 8°.
John
used his always-handy insurance agents Polaroid camera to take
five pictures of the view of North Franklin Street from his office
windows. Clark Cheney has uploaded those 1966 photos to the
Internet, and Ive stitched them together into this panorama. |
