than half a mile downhill from where I live today, the Pennsylvania
Main Line Canal once carried goods and passengers east from Pittsburgh.
In
the neighboring borough, on a wall behind the former railroad
station, Tarentum artist Wally Sommer has painted a mural depicting
local history. The above scene represents a time around 1840.
